How the Rainbow Vacuum Cleaner works

Most vacuum cleaners trap dust and dirt inside a vacuum or dust bag.  Instead of using a vacuum bag the Rainbow uses water to trap dirt and dust.  There is a pan or reservoir of water inside Rainbow vacuum cleaners which is emptied after use.  It is quite a unique vacuum cleaner.  Rexair's slogan is "Wet dust won't fly!"   

Rexair says there system works best because, most dirt particles contain an electrical charge that is opposite from the electrical charge of water.  Opposites attract and thus the dirt and dust is trapped in the water.

Rexair - Rainbow Vacuum Cleaner History

Rexair history goes back about 80 years.  John W. Newcombe invented a machine called the Separator.  This machine was made to separate dust and other material from the air.  In 1926, Leslie H. Green became noticed the Separator and thought it could be applied for home use.  Green and Newcombe joined forces and created the first bagless cleaner in 1927.

In 1929, Green formed the Rexair corporation.  Rexair means "King of the Air".  In 1936, T. Russ Hill joined Rexair and came up with the idea of incorporating water into the design to trap dust and dirt.  The Rainbow vacuum cleaner has been using water to remove dust and dirt ever since.

Rexair developed a new slogan: "Wet Dust Can't Fly!" in 1936, when T. Russ Hill joined Rexair, who was inspired by street cleaners in Kentucky, Hill came up with the idea of incorporating water into the Rexair design, trapping dust and dirt. This innovation made the Rexair a unique and exclusive product.  By the late 1930s, the Rexair was being hailed as more than just a vacuum cleaner. The Rexair's ability to eliminate airborne dust in the home made life easier for allergy and hay fever sufferers, and soon medical professionals recognized it as a breakthrough product.

Sales of the Rexair cleaner were beginning to skyrocket in 1948, . This was partly due to J.V. Sanders, a young salesman from Owensboro, Kentucky.  - better known as "Sandy" - who saw a demonstration of the Rexair and came to Detroit, Michigan determined to become "the best salesman the company ever had. J.V. Sanders became that and more, helping Rexair to grow and prosper. .V. Sanders epitomized the opportunity that Rexair provided, and in 1953 became one of the five Regional Managers in Rexairs newly aligned national sales organization.

Rexair unveiled its new 100,00 square foot manufacturing facility in Cadillac, Michigan in 1969. As a result of Rexair's commitment to continuous product improvement, the rainbow evolved when the Power Nozzle and AquaMate, and an array of sophisticated product enhancements were designed - new attachments,

The new Rainbow was considered by J.V. Sanders to be "the best Cleaning System on the face of the earth." when In 1989, Rexair celebrated its Golden Anniversary by launching its newest Rainbow, the D4. The result of five years of planning, engineering and testing.

Paul Vidovish took charge of Rexair in 2001, , as President and CEO, and in 2002, he also assumed the responsibilities of Chairman. Paul Vidovish began his career in the business in 1972. He rose through the ranks with numerous successes in the direct selling business. His outstanding leadership skills and knowledge of the company has led Rexair to exceptionally high levels of achievement in the U.S. and many international Markets.
